You will know it when it comes, you will be sure of it when it is gone.” . What a wonderfully weird and weirdly wonderful little book. It’s not very often I find a book that contains the fantastical elements of fantasy and have it be fabulously Irish. I need more of that. I probably should do a better job of looking for it. 🙈 . Reading some great stuff at the moment. This morning, with a hangover, I jumped out of bed and went to the gym because I wanted to listen to Where the Crawdads Sing by @authordeliaowens and then walked home the long way so I could keep listening. Then home for a shower, a nap and finishing up Other Words for Smoke by @sarahgriffski . Now drinking wine and rewatching Derry Girls. Great way to spend a Friday off. 🥳

This is my plan for the weekend. So far so good. For me it reads a bit like a Netflix documentary and I’m loving it. I’m in the mood for something a bit different but easy and this ticks both those boxes. . I finally finished The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty this week and it is messing with my head big time. I’m dreaming about it and thinking about it all the time. This is the sign of great writing I think, when the world is so intricate that you are unable to let it go. I was planning on waiting for The Kingdom of Copper but I may not be able to. Can’t believe I didn’t save these until the third book was released. Such a rookie mistake! 🤦‍♀️

Yesterday I got to meet my queen of romance @kristenashleybooks! What a day. I’ve been fretting for weeks over what six books to bring and by the time my number was called she was down to signing three in order to make sure everyone got to meet her, trying to pick what three on the fly was a bit like Sofie’s Choice but a very nice lady behind me in line helped me pick! 😂 Not a bit upset about only getting the three though because I honestly thought I was going to miss out and I was freaking out. I never, ever do pictures because I hate my face 🙈 but I couldn’t let this opportunity go by so decided last minute to just do it. Having a few glasses of wine beforehand helped make me brave. My other half says I look terrified in the picture. 😂 KA, as always, looks fabulous. She was so lovely, and this was at the very end of the day and she was still all laughter and smiles! . Also, after three previously failed attempts I finally made it to the @museeorsay yesterday morning. This museum has been on my bucket list since I first came to Paris but between one thing and another I missed out on going each time I came. I thought it wouldn’t happen this time to be honest and going is the reason I ended up number 227 in the KA queue but I got to meet her so it all worked out in the end. Epic day. Epic city. #RockOn #Rare19Paris

Today’s blog post for @somethingofthebook #FridayFavourites is #PlotTwists. This book was full of all the twists and was absolutely addictive! Buddy read this with @toreadistolove and we had so much fun with it. We’ve been talking about a reread for a while so it may well be time for a buddy reread. . Hope everyone is having or had a good Friday. I was super busy but actually had an exciting work day and the mother is up visiting tonight so looking forward to having a few drinks and the chats with her. . So tell me your favourite plot twist books!!

These covers are just so 😍 . I’m really excited to start these books. I’ve heard so many good things about them. These are a total ‘bookstagram made me do it!’ purchase. . What’s the last book you bought solely because of bookstagram? . Today @toreadistolove and her two boys are flying in from Amsterdam for a whistle stop Dublin tour. The sun is shining and it’s lovely and mild so hopefully it’s going to be a good day. First up is Dublin Zoo and if we have time this will be followed by the dead zoo. Circle of life! 😂.

🇮🇪☘️Happy St Patrick’s Day bookstagram!☘️🇮🇪 . We did our celebrating yesterday so today is about recovery. We will have a few whiskey sours to mark the occasion later though. Yesterday was an impromptu thing with some friends and was so much fun. I don’t do it very often but day drinking is great craic! 😂 . Today is all about reading and napping and for the day that’s in it I’ve already dipped into Wild Irish Women by Marian Broderick. Great collection of tales about some amazing women but I’m a bit disappointed that she lists Dr James Barry and uses the wrong pronoun for him. The fact of the matter is he lived his life as a man and since we can’t go back in time and ask him what gender he identified as I think out of respect for him it’s probably best not to assign the wrong pronoun to him just so he can be listed in a book about Irish Women. . So what’s everyone’s plan for the day?
