March FairyLoot Unboxing

On April 9, 2018April 9, 2018 By mindforbooksIn Book BoxLeave a comment

The March theme was 'Memorable Moments' and we celebrate FairyLoot's second birthday. To mark the special occasion this months box was purple. It's the little things and this little thing made me ever so excited! 😀 The loot: First up was the Cork Bunting from Paladone. To be completely honest with you I'm not sure …

A look at March

On April 5, 2018April 5, 2018 By mindforbooksIn booksLeave a comment

March was all about finishing up The Illuminae Files with the release of Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. I absolutely adored this trilogy and Obsidio was an epic end to it. I didn't want it to be finished but they ended it so well and really knocked it out of the park, or in this case, universe …

A trip to the Netherlands – part 2

On March 28, 2018March 28, 2018 By mindforbooksIn travelLeave a comment

We went to some really lovely places on this trip so I just wanted to share them in case anyone who reads this is planning a trip to Amsterdam in the near future.

A trip to the Netherlands – part 1

On March 26, 2018March 28, 2018 By mindforbooksIn travelLeave a comment

This day last week I was preparing to head into Amsterdam after spending a wonderful few days visiting my friend and her family in the city of Almere. This friend is why this trip (and most likely all future trips to Holland) is referred to as a book trip. I met Susan on Goodreads on …

February FairyLoot Unboxing

On March 24, 2018March 26, 2018 By mindforbooksIn Book BoxLeave a comment

February's theme was 'Twisted Tales' and the art for this box is probably the best I've received so far. Tara Spruit does all the artwork for the FairyLoot box spoiler cards and bookmarks and she is so talented. They are always stunning but this months one is just so atmospheric. I love it. So the loot... …

A look at February

On March 1, 2018March 1, 2018 By mindforbooksIn booksLeave a comment

I feel like I totally smashed February. A short month but I got through fourteen books. I participated in my first bookstagram readathon, #25inFive, from the 8th to the 12th February and I think that really focused me. It also didn't hurt that I finally started A Court of Thorns and Roses and read book …

January FairyLoot Unboxing

On February 1, 2018February 26, 2018 By mindforbooksIn Book BoxLeave a comment

I am obsessed with FairyLoot. I've been getting them since August 2017 and as long as they continue to be of such high quality I'm going to continue to get them. I've decided that once they announce their photo challenge each month I'll do an unboxing post. This is mainly so I can wax lyrical …

Happy birthday to the Bard! 🎂 . I have always genuinely loved Shakespeare. King Lear, Hamlet, The Merchant of Venice, Much Ado About Nothing, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Taming of the Shrew are some of my favourite plays. I still think that King Lear is my most favourite but I’ve been known to change my mind. 😂 . I do struggle with the language at times and I don’t always know what’s being said, I’m also not a huge fan on the ‘King’ plays, but one of my favourite things to do when I was in school was wait until there was nobody in the house and just boom it out. Reciting Shakespeare out loud and with conviction is ridiculously fun. It’s something I haven’t done in years and really should do again. Just blast it out like you know what you’re doing and it does start to come together in your mind or at least it did for me way back when! 🤷‍♀️ . I hope everyone is having a great start to your week. I’m still in a bit of a reading slump but I am reading a gorgeous work of poetry called Rocket Fantastic by @gabbat that’s a wonderful find and I’m savouring it. . #MindforBooksApril day 23: #ShakespearesBirthday
What’s everyone up to this #EarthDay? 🌍 . How amazing is today’s Google Doodle for Earth Day? I love Jane Goodall.💞 🦍 . I like to think that today I’m helping the environment by minimal movement and energy saving by spending the day napping and reading. 🙈 . But seriously, I personally think that Earth Day is a great opportunity for us to remember this is the only planet we are going to get and how important it is for us to do something that can help slow down or reverse some of the damage we’ve already done. . One of the things we are trying to do this year is cut down on the plastic we use. When you start to really focus on the amount of plastic you use it’s kind of horrifying. What is encouraging though is that there are a lot of alternatives available for the everyday plastic items that we use such as biodegradable toothbrushes and paperstick q-tips. It’s the tip of the iceberg but it’s a start and maybe if we all start doing the small things we’ll slow down the rate those icebergs are melting. I can’t even talk about the polar bears. Google starving polar bear and watch the National Geographic video of a starving polar bear. It’s absolutely heartbreaking. 😔 . #MindforBooksApril day 22: #MiddleEarthDay
I hope everyone is having a fabulous Saturday! The weather here is still glorious so we have spent the entire morning clearing up our gardens and we are now ready for planting and sitting out. I’m feeling very accomplished but I also can tell that I’m going to be in some serious pain tomorrow! I go to the gym 5 to 6 times a week and no workout equals the garden workout. 😂 . I’d love a nap right now but it think we might need to take ourselves out for a nice boozy lunch first. There is a Spritz out there with my name on it. . Black books prompt for #mindforbooksapril and this black book is my favourite April read so far and has made it on to my favourites shelf. The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by @blackholly was so good. I’d love more of these books. I just adored it. . #MindforBooksApril day 21: #BlackBooks
#FRIYAY!!!!! . I’ve had barely any reading time this week. Real life is very inconsiderate at times. I’d like to spend the weekend catching up but the weather here is glorious so I think we are going to get started on getting our garden setup for summer. I’m broken from moving stuff all week so I might as well keep going! 😂 . So is anyone else getting a taste of summer yet? . #MindforBooksApril day 20: #FlatLayFriday #TheCruelPrince
Moving offices is great fun. I’ve managed to hurt my neck so I’ve come home early. I was an idiot really. 🙈 . Anyways, I’m going to have a little nap and hopefully it will sort itself out. 🤷‍♀️ . It’s a glorious day here and I’d love to nap in the back garden but I’m too sore to be dragging stuff about. Also too lazy. 😂 . Hope everyone is having a great Thursday. . #MindforBooksApril day 19: #OpenBook
Love to hate! 💚 . It’s hard not to love him. Also he is one of my favourite funkos and probably the one I post most often. He is so cute! 😂 . My office move is underway. The stress is mighty. I may have to skip the gym this evening and go for a drink! 🙈 . #MindforBooksApril day 18: #LoveToHate
