Friday Favourites: Music to listen to while reading

I’m not really a big music while reading kind of person. As I mentioned last week I’m more a ‘Big Bang Theory in the background’ kind of person. I do occasionally settle in with a book and music though, usually on a Saturday after I’ve done all the things I’ve put off all week. When I do listen to music when reading I will  pick soundtracks and those soundtracks are always the same. Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and The Hobbit Trilogy.  Harry Potter music is something that always puts me in relaxed and good form. ‘Hedwig’s Theme‘ is iconic and it still gives me all the joy to listen to it.

I think it’s safe to say that my favourite of all the soundtracks is ‘The Prisoner of Azkaban’ which also happens to me my favourite book and movie out of the franchise. The best song being ‘Double Trouble’. All in all though you can’t go wrong with any of the Harry Potter soundtracks.

Next up is The Lord of the Rings trilogy soundtracks. I LOVE the music from these movies. Every time I listen to them I want to watch the movies though. LotR marathons are a big commitment! 😀

Can’t talk about The Lord of the Rings trilogy without mentioning The Hobbit soundtracks. More cracking soundtracks with the most beautiful music. It really is perfect for reading.

Pippin singing The Last Goodbye causes emotions

The Hobbit: the Battle of the Five Armies also features a song that makes me cry absolutely every time I listen to it. The Last Goodbye by Billy Boyd kills me. This movie is one of three movies that I can’t watch again because of emotional reasons and every time I listen to that song I am reminded of the reasons I shouldn’t watch it again. The pain!!  I will say that getting Pippin to sing it was a stroke of genius though.

We are coming into St Patrick’s weekend here and let me tell you, a bank holiday weekend is not only welcome it’s needed. This has been one of the most stressful weeks ever and the next few aren’t going to be much better so I need some R&R. There is an IKEA trip planned though so I might not of thought the R&R thing through but I’ll think of that tomorrow, for now I’ll wish you all a happy Paddy’s weekend!

P.S. I beg anyone reading this to please never, ever, EVER refer to it as ‘St Patty’s’.
